Statements & Feedback

"Very compact workshop. Everything that happened in Estonia in 10 days could have been enough to experience in one year..."

"I think Angelika's and Johannes' concept of "teaching" performance art is as simple as brillant. It is situated in the middle of life: dealing with given situations, finding a balance between personal and group needs, percieving everyday life and transform it into something you can identify with- all in all, it is about creating an atmosphere of trust and freedom, so that creativity can flow and everything else will just happen...this is the way it works for me -a big gift!"

Port Performance - A statement about the workshop which took place in Tallinn and Pärnu 2007. The text is compiled by Simon Häfele.

As a introduction to the following lines, I want to point to the fact, that I have been asked by Angelika Fojtuch and BBB Johannes Deimling to write this.  The asked all workshop members to do so, BEFORE the start to write feedbacks about our works.  Doing it this way seams a bit strange. It sounds to me like this: "If you are writing something nice about us, we are going to write something nice about you."  As far as I got to know the two, they could not really mean it that way.  Maybe the just forgot to think about that fact.  Anyway I am now pretty unsure about how "honest" this my writings could or should not be.  Usually i am a very critical writer.

Being aware of this background my feedback about "Port Performance" is of course a very nice one and therefore sounds like follows:

"Port Performance" is a very valuable project.  I highly recommend it to anyone who want's to become performance artist or work within the field of body expressions.  It is a inordinately didactical experience and helps young artists to grow there personalities expansively.  Group dynamical processes are a essential part of the extraordinary and very detailed planed educative program.  The practical parts of this workshop, the living together and the arrangements made during the creative progresses, makes most of the individuals loosing there ego-many in order to get replaced with his/her own personality.  At the same time excessive group feelings are evoked by the used teaching methods.  Personal assertions are helping young and insecure individuals to find their own strength and power.  The exceedingly fine-tuned feedback rounds along with the offered "tools" of artistic expression are giving this workshop it's ultimate accolade and this special taste of hyper-precise excellence.

What else to say about a perfect work, apart form:  "It is perfect!" ?

Tremendous lovely greetings form binsh to "Port Performance".

Simon Häfele.  One member of "Port Performance" Estonia 2007.

It might have been exactly what I needed. Maybe already for a long time. It was so great to have a training like that. To open programs in me that I could use, finally. Really exciting. I was very happy. And moved. And it was great to have such a nice group of people. In different places and situations.
Johannes and Angelika are a good team. And the atmosphere during the workshop-time was really enjoyable.
Greetings for everybody - thank you -  and hope to see soon again!

The workshop was a very good experience. I learned much more about me and my body than i can learn at any other place. It was very interessting to meet peoples from other countrys, to talk what is art and to talk about the personal ideas.
We was at many very interessting places in Estonia. I think the most tourists will never see this places.
The Place Mud Bath for the finalpresentation was very nice. The presentation was for me great, all the different works harmonised together. And so was the whole presentation for me one great picture.
The workshop gave me new impulses and energy for my own works.

For me, Port Performance was not an instruction “How to make” Performance Art - it was more about getting some skills to look and rethink things, thoughts and behavior from different ways - no matter in which discipline.
