Exercises

SCRIPTWORK is a wide field of exercises for groups. Improvisation work, training of perception and presence are deducted by simple means, both interior and exterior. Scriptwork means sketching with the body and is suitable as an introduction to performance work, but as well for the daily training. Scriptwork is made of four consecutive levels. The base of all excercises is the erect posture. Simple and relaxed walking or standing transform into body images and situations that create suitable platforms for individual experience. It is not about learning a technique, but more about overcoming awkwardness, reducing inhibitions, exploring personal borders, being ready for new experience and perception of the body in space and time. What matters most is to understand and to use one’s body as a tool.

Observation: Dionys was sitting in the sand and looked straight to the sea. After a couple of minutes he suddenly jumped up and ran into the water with all his belongings (money, creditcards, mobilephone, phonecards, identity card, cigarettes, lighter, ...)

"Right on the beginning of the workshop I was two times robbed. My old bike, a mobile and my clothes was missing out of my VW bus. This fact caused a critical, but good discussion about East and West Europe within the group. The Police of Gdansk couldn’t help me really and so I decided to follow the workshop givers suggestion to do something creative with my feelings.

Just with bathing trunks and a plasticbag from the solidarność museum, that I used as a t-shirt, I walked into the main street of Gdansk (ul. Dułga). In my hands I hold a cardboard-sign with my story, written in polish and asking for help.

At first I got into trouble, because of the plasticbag on that was printed the solidarność logo. A man hardly pleased me to take the bag off. A few minutes later a friendly, old man gave me two polish Złotych.

I went to a newspaper kiosk and was quickly asked to leave. But the owner saw that I really needed help. He wanted to bring me to the german embassy and called to the police. The policemen came and noticed me from the days before and took me to the office. They was alomost friendly and helpfull. Angelika helped me inside of the policeoffice and with an official document from the police of Gdansk I ended my exercise."
